Welcome. I'm probably putting this here because my other book-in-progress is flopping and this was a solution to maybe get more readers as a new account. Sigh. Also, I got the movie dialogue from whoever wrote the transcripts on the marvel wiki thingy. I just looked up [insert movie] script, and you'll find it. Now onto the story! Also, this has long chapters :))))))

I put on my sweatshirt and leggings with my costume mask. Pretty pathetic suit, but it was all that I had. I didn't have fancy technology or anything...

So, you may ask, 'Why are you putting on a sweat suit and a mask?' I call myself Portal. Basically, I can teleport. I was young during the battle of New York. Something on one of those alien ships crashed. People had gotten out of the way, so there were a few yards between the crash and the people. My natural curiosity got the best of me, and I separated myself from my mother's hands (my dad was at work that day) to go look at the indigo orb that fell from the sky. It was shiny. I liked shiny things, so I picked it up. I was, like, eleven, so no I didn't think about what I was doing. Suddenly, it exploded and I flew back. My mom was so worried about me, especially because there was a faint blue/purple aura around me that people could see. It disappeared quickly, but it was unmistakably there. Tony Stark, Iron Man, flew past us to kick some alien butt. I was so in awe of him, you have no idea.

After that battle, I was so impressed by the Avengers, mostly Tony Stark. My dad (step-dad) though, he had some choice words about that man. Though our views were different on the man, he would still take me past Stark Tower almost every day. It wasn't until I was fourteen, so just last year, that I found out I had powers. It was more a fight or flight thing at first. Like, if I was threatened or surprised, I would find myself in my room. My safe space. After a few months, I learned to control it. I practiced in my room or abandoned buildings. I didn't really want people to know about it. I also took karate when I was younger, so now I have some cool skills. Basically, I wanted to be able to find a way to become some sort of super hero. I wanted to help people. I mean, I felt I had some responsibility to do so. If you can do what I can, shouldn't you use it to help those who can't? I was also very, very inspired by the Avengers, like I mentioned.

Alright, back to what I was talking about before I gave my backstory. I "suited up." It was a weekend, so I had all day. As I said, it wasn't much. Just a long sleeve, black hoodie with some indigo streaks and some black leggings with a similar design. I got my mask from Party City...so...pretty elite if you ask me...

This was only my second day "on the job" and so far, I haven't done much. There wasn't a lot of stuff that I could do, honestly. There's this hero guy, Spider-Man, he's pretty new too, and he seems to have super strength and can climb buildings and swing on webs. He takes care of a lot of the crime, so I'm left with about nothing.

I teleported from my room, to the middle of the street, which was not on purpose. I'm still kind of getting the hand of things. I saw an old lady next to me and a truck approaching. My eyes widened and I grabbed the lady's arm and hoped my idea would work. I teleported the both of us to the other side of the street with a sigh of relief. I did it!

"Thank you! Thank you!" The old woman said, repeatedly. I smiled and said, "No problem."

"What's your name, young lady?" she asked.

"Call me Portal."

I winked and disappeared. I teleported to the top of a building so that I could see the city. I love New York.

After a day of mostly nothing, I teleported back home and changed.

I started to get pretty famous along with the other new masked hero, Spider-Man. There were videos uploaded to YouTube with so many views. It was kind of cool being famous without anyone knowing it was me. I felt like Hannah Montana, haha.
