Iris

"He asked you out?" I exclaimed, Alexa's words leaving me nothing short than surprised. She quickly reached over to cover my mouth, smiling to our coworkers apologetically before dragging me out of the coffee room and into my office.

"Please, Iris,go ahead and  tell the whole fucking world." She quipped sitting back in her chair with arms crossed.

"And what did you say?" I asked excitedly, leaning forward to hear all the gossip as if I was some teenage girl.

"I said yes." She shrugged as if it was no big deal.I squealed happily before calming down when I realized she didn't look happy.

"Why aren't you happy?"

"Because it's Jack!" She exclaimed, arms thrown in the air as if it was obvious. "Have you seen him? He's such a dork, I mean his office is filled with action figures and he's always talking about his workouts and let's not forget how big of a crush he had on you until you got together with James."

"Alexa, both of us know that Jack never actually liked me, he just thought he did because we work together so much and besides he's cute no?" I defended Jack, he was my friend and ultimately I knew that Jack and Alexa were made for each other.

"But he's such a dick!" Alexa sighed, shaking her head as if the possibility of her and Jack dating repulsed her.

"Well, " I sang, teasing her. "Why did you say yes then?" Alexa clamped her mouth shut, her cheeks reddening with the embarrassment of being caught red-handed.

"I don't know, I felt bad for him, he went through all this trouble-"

"You like him!" I yelled happily, getting up from my seat to begin spinning her around in her own. "Alexa likes Jack, Alexa likes Jack!" I sang over and over again, knowing that I was annoying the crap out of her.

"No, I don't!"

"Yes, you do."

"No."

"Yes."

"Fine, maybe I do think he has glorious abs and this goofy little smile that makes my heart melt." She declared, pouting at the fact that she's just had to admit that.

"Alexa." I spoke getting closer to her.

"What?"

"I knew it." I whispered into her ear before getting up and doing a little victory dance. Eventually, I sat back down, getting a bit more serious as I saw she was still desperate for advice. "Your nervous aren't you?" She nodded weakly, the usually vibrant and confident Alexa replaced with more quiet, fidgety version. I sighed, moving my chair next to her. "You're just scared that this will fuck up your friendship, you're scared because you're going to have show him another side of you, a side he hasn't seen before. But, look at me, everything is going to be alright."

"Yeah, you're right. Besides, it's just Jack."

"Yeah, it's just Jack." I laughed at her words, getting up and grabbing my things as the work day had already ended.Alexa and I laughed together as we walked to my car,her nerves for tonight's date calmed.

"Alexa, get ready for the best night of your life!" Jack called just as we were about to enter my car. She scoffed, simply replying with the middle finger while I couldn't contain my laughter.

"Do you have any One Direction songs?" Alexa asked, shuffling through my playlist as I gave her ride home.

"No, sorry." I replied, keeping my eyes trained on the road.
