The Maze of Fire

chapter 2

Fotiá... Fotiá... Foti-

I looked around the gym, wondering who was whispering my name. No one was paying attention to me. Probably just my imagination. I go back to doing the exercises we were supposed to be doing, sometimes stretching.

Fotiá... You're special...

I shook my head and drank some water from my water bottle. Atleast tried to.. See, I don't really like water. You would probably understand why because I'm a phoenix. The only thing I like to do with water is swim in it or bath in it. I mostly like drinking my mom's homemade apple cider. Anywaay! I looked over at my (ex) best friend and the barbie. They seamed to be having so much fun.. I was being completely ignored. I sighed, whatever.. she's happy with the barbie. I continued what I was doing earlier, exercising and stretching.

For some reason, about 20 minutes later, everyone was staring at me and giving me dirty looks. "What?" I asked. The principal walked in and looked at me, "Fotiá, please come with me." What was happening? Why was everyone staring at me?

We entered the office and sat down. "I have been told that you were on fire. Literally." Huh? What? "What are you talking about?"

"Fotiá, you're very special. You're going to be moved up a year because you're above everyone else."

"But.. why was everyone giving me dirty looks?"

"Well, you have a tattoo now." Right as those words came out of his mouth I started to freak out. Mom's going to kill me!

"Fotiá, calm down. It's just your families symbol. But most people don't get it until their 18. That's why you're special." He said. Zeus can this day get any worse? I looked at my arm. There was a red outline of a phoenix with a blue outline of some water. Well of course there would be water. I mean look at my stepdad and stepbrother. I then realized why they were giving me dirty looks. They want to be me. Not barbie. Me.
