A/N: Hi everyone! I am GeekyFangirl4640 proud sister of The Dark Lord. First off, the amazing cover of this book was made by TheShadowSavior ! Anyway I am proud to say that I have been given the chance to collaborate with The Dark Lord to write this story. Most of these ideas are The Dark Lord's but some of them are mine! Anyways I'm gonna be writing the chapters in Makenzie's POV.

Chapter 2:
Makenzie

I clasped my hand around Zore's mouth to keep him from screaming. There at the foot of his bed stood a man surrounded completely by darkness. My eyes widened in surprise. I didn't think I'd see him again so soon. Something must be wrong. Zore's eyes shown with terror.

"Shh." I whispered to him. "It's okay. I know him."

Zore ripped my hand from his mouth and stared at the figure.

"Mack," he said to me in an odd sort of Darth Vader voice, "We need to talk."

"Zore," I turned to my little brother, taking up a serious tone, "I promise to explain, but now can you leave is alone for a while. This could be important."

Zore didn't look happy about it, but he allowed me to push him out of the room and lock the door.

"Cedrick," I greeted with a nod, "What's wrong?"

"You just assume something's wrong..." Cedric's said with a slight smirk. He had beautiful green eyes and raven-black, short, hair, parted to the right. He wore a long, black, cloak, which I knew was enchanted by darkness. His alarmingly distracting lips curled into a playful, dangerous, smirk. He was supposed to be dark, and he looked the part. Shut up, I told myself, looking at my feet. I did not need to like him.

"It's you," I replied, "I know something's wrong."

"Sadly enough, you'd be correct." His smirk faded, "I have reason to believe the dark lord is rising."

"What?! You told me that couldn't ever happen!"

"Some new powers have come into play. There have been reports of the light-bringers and their families disappearing. Where's you're family Makenzie?" Cedric asked with genuine concern.

"I think my dad's at work and my mom's in the shower." I answered.

"Are you sure?"

That sounded ominous. I decided it best to check. I ran out of the room, pushing past Zore, who I'm pretty sure has been eavesdropping. I walked into my Mom and Dad's room.

"Mom?" I called to the bathroom.
No reply.
"Mom?" I asked, panic now heard in my voice.
Still no answer.

Zore and Cedric had followed me into the room. They were regarding each other with skeptism.

I ran into the bathroom. The water was still running in the shower, but no one was inside. I noticed a trail of water leading to the bathroom window.

"She's gone." I stated.

I walked back into the bedroom and stared, terrified, at Cedric.
"What do we do?"

"We have to get back to head quarters." he told me.

I nodded.

"Would someone please explain to me what's going on?!" Zore demanded.

"Cedric," I decided, "Take off your cloak."

Cedric did as I asked and shook his cloak from his shoulders. He unfolded a large pair of black, feathered, wings.

"Cedric here," I explained to Zore, "Is a dark angel."

"What?!" He asked, staring at Cedric. I couldn't help but think of the time I first met Cedric.

Flashback

I walked home from my highschool, Softmore year. Zore was in eighth grade, so we couldn't walk together. I passed Illdian without looking up at him. We weren't really on speaking terms. We had just broken up. Again.

I noticed, out of the corner of my eye, a boy, with beautiful, black, hair, and green, eyes. He made eye contact with me for a few seconds and turned the corner.

Something about him. I debated going up to him, and finally decided to go ahead. I had never seen him before, I'd just introduce myself.

I walked over to the corner he had turned. I nearly had a heart attack when I turned the corner to find myself nose to nose with the boy. He was a teenager, possibly a year or two older than I. He wore a black trench coat and all black clothes. He looked like some sort of goth.

"Oh...umm...helllo." I greeted awkwardly, getting my bearings.

"Hello, Makenzie." he said.

"How...how do you know my name? I've never seen you around before."

He merely smiled at me and held out a hand. "I'm Cedric. Follow me."

I took his hand, expecting a handshake, but he took my hand and led me down an unfamiliar street.

"What do you want?" I asked.

"You are required." he replied simply.

"Why? For what?"

He turned towards me and put his fingertips on my face. He closed his eyes and answered, "You have a kind spirit. You are strong. Your family is powerful. You are part of the great prophecy." he answered, in a sort of trance. Cedric took his hands from my face.

"Okay...that was weird...good bye." I began to walk away but he grabbed my arm.

"Let go." I demanded, getting slightly annoyed.

"You are to come with me." he ordered.

"Why should I?" I asked.

He smirks yet again and pulls his jacket off his back, unfolding a set of feathery, black, wings.

"Who- what are you?"

"I am a dark angel for the Dark Lord, but don't fear me. I'm one of the good guys."

After accepting that he was an angel, I agreed to follow him down the unfamiliar neighborhood street and into an empty house. It is locked but for some reason Cedric had a key. He lead me through the empty corridors to a library-like room. It's the only room with any furniture in it. It's had lots of book-filled bookshelves.

Cedric showed me to the far left bookshelf. He picked an unamed, blue colored, book, and pulled it out of the bookshelf. Just like in the movies, the book slid out like a switch and the bookshelves parted revealing an elevator.

I stare in awestruck confusion, and slight terror as he steps nonchalantly into the elevator, followed by me. He pushes a button, inside the normal seeming elevator, that says floor 7. I was pretty sure this complex had 6 floors. I listened to cheesy elevator music play as we ascended to level 7.

We stepped out into a blinding light. A girl approaches me. She is beautiful with long, light, auburn, hair, a white, flowing, dress, and a pair of white wings. She really does look like a stereotypical angel.

"Hello Makenzie." she greets, "Welcome to base 7."

End Flashback

I had worked with them since to monitor the Dark Lord's condition, and to report back on Zore. They claimed that Zore would be part of a huge prophecy, but he seemed just like a normal kid to me.

According to the angels, though, he was the hero who would deliver them to brighter times in the darkest hour.
No pressure there.

"It is time." Cedric stated, knowingly.

"Okay. Let's go." I agreed.

"But we must get one more. The prophecy tells of three heroes."

"What?" I asked, "Who's the last one?"
