Kaneki is an orphan adopted by a young Kisho Arima's family and is raised and taught by said man and Kureo Mado. As an adult, he is a highly skilled hunter and fighter with abnormally high RC cell count. He works for the CCG Black Ops division known as Syndicate that hunts down dangerous Ghouls.
