The Ivellois family hire the waifs and strays of the elves to work for them, at a price. The newest recruit, Alben, is a victim of the war between the humans and elves, and the Ivellois family might be able to give him what he needs, an end to the war. To do that, he'll have to live with the humans for a while. Blending in is easy to him but the odd jobs given to him by the family make him question his loyalty to them. How far is Alben willing to go before he falls on the wrong side of history? The war will end, but with the wrong victors.
