Jeremiah Constantine Marquez trusts what can be measured. Deadlines can be met. Systems can be improved. Pressure can be distributed until even the heaviest load becomes manageable. Feelings are less reliable, especially when affection exists without the certainty to sustain it. Years after leaving Idaho, Jeremiah has built a life around competence. Engineering taught him how structures endure. Law school teaches him how institutions protect themselves. Somewhere between the two, he becomes the person everyone depends on: composed, useful, and almost impossible to interrupt. Then a professional opportunity disrupts the routine he has spent years perfecting. What begins as a manageable change in schedule gradually unsettles the assumptions holding the rest of his life together. Because Jeremiah knows how to survive uncertainty.
