This is another one of my Holocaust/Auschwitz-based, fictional stories that take place in the 1940s. Monika Emilia Ziegler was imprisoned at Auschwitz, but she escaped. Now she is on the run. She has to avoid getting caught, but that becomes a challenge when someone from her past runs into her. Just when she thought her life couldn't get any crazier, her life is turned upside down because of the person who she ran into.

"The present exists only as it is observed. The past exists only as it is remembered." Although the speaker of this piece is fictional, her story is the accumulation of words collected from various survivor testimonies and each piece of information used is indeed factual. The purpose of the piece is not to cheapen the Holocaust, but instead to create a personal narrative that assimilates a human perspective on holocaust education and memory. The opinions and ideas expressed in this piece in no way reflect those of any one individual but are instead accumulations of my own thoughts as well as that of others. For those of you who are interested in reading the testimony that inspired Elaina's story, please copy the following link to the Holocaust Educational Trust website, and see Eva Clarke's story for yourself. https://www.het.org.uk/survivors-eva-clarke Cover art- 'The refugee' by Felix Nussbaum. Abdiel's life is turned around after the Nazi invasion of Poland. He is eventually sent to Auschwitz after his life in the Ghetto. Follow as he journeys through the camp. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a short story that is for a school project, so that means that this is completely PG and (Kind of) family friendly. Sorry for those of you used to the way that I normally write. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For those of you that do not know, a Sonderkommando is an inmate, typically a male of good physical being, that was chosen to clear out the gas chambers. They would be allowed to dress normally and be given benefits of better food quality and living conditions. Although the conditions were not amazing, they were still much better than the average jewish prisoner.

When I first heard this powerful, meaningful story - I was just a child, and didn't understand the full depth of it. Recently, I came across a movie based on the story from my childhood. Curious, I decided to watch it. And I was, well, disappointed. So here I am to tell you the story from my perspective. Originally told by Elie Wiesel, a Jew, a writer and a survivor of one history's greatest horrors: Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps. The story of how G-d was put on trial, and lost to His people. Or did He?

Anne Frank was a Jewish teenage girl during the Second World War who defended her thoughts through her writing. Wherever she went she kept with her a small autograph book she used as a diary. After the war, her diary entries were published. Her writing was translated into seventy different languages with more than three thousand copies sold! She was entitled one of the most important people of the twentieth century for having the courage to write down her thoughts even through the darkest moments of her life and history. Through her writings, she reminds people today of our common humanity and the goodness that we each have buried deep within our hearts. Through her writings she lives on!

« La foule se meut et chacun suit le rythme de leurs pas. Un épais brouillard empêche de visualiser l'immensité de cet endroit. Les briques rouges s'alignent et forment de multiples bâtisses, certaines fourmillent d'humains d'autres sont complètement vides. Un énorme tas de cheveux traîne dans un coin, à l'abri des regards extérieurs. » Courte nouvelle qui parle du camp d'Auschwitz, il n'y a pas de scènes sensibles.
