Jane Wodehouse is a ninety-two year old woman for one second, and the next - she isn't.
No really, Jane Wodehouse is dead. Which is to be expected at her age and should really be simple but then again...it isn't.
She wakes up, now in her youthful body and finds out that she never really did live - her entire "life" had been a lie, some sort of project in the hands of people that barely knew her. Jane Wodehouse never existed so everything that she knew, the people she met, memories formed ... they were all invented by scientists.
At least that's what she's told. What they want her to believe, and even through these bleak depressing truths Jane manages to see hope. If her life had been a lie, then she'll simply make a new one...write a new story. Pave her own way.
It takes death to make her live.
However some people don't like that, they fear Jane and what she is - the ones who created her want her dead or to either pick up and start the endless torture again, and Jane soon finds herself on a journey to freedom across Europe with her ex-husband, a fellow experiment and her former boss.
She'd never encountered anything like this in all her ninety-two years.
