This is a story about Vampires. Vampires who don’t go all sparkly in the sun and wouldn’t be caught dead munching on your neighbours bunny... They’ll just eat your neighbour - but they have a problem. Actually they have several. Fext, ‘King’ of the Seven Vampire Houses has been missing for almost thirty years and the head of the Seventh House is falling in love - with a human. Somewhere in the woods a girl is watching Vampires stalk their prey while she dreams and the first Dhampir in over four hundred years is about to wake up in a pool of blood. Oh, and to top it all off, there’s a bloody prophecy involving all of them and the hills are alive with the sound of howling...

Regina has survived with her broken leg through the rest of the summer, and the first part of fall. It may have been the result of Allistair's question that kept her sane for all that time. Shandu is about ready to remove her leg holder and her life will go back to normal...finally. There's a small migration of unicorns going through the area, and of course the Dispatchers will open the haven to them; even thought the haven's packed as it is. This brings a new friend--the word used lightly-- to the pasture...

This story tells about the story of a farm boy and a city girl, when Belle evaluates her relationship with Daegan, by taking a trip down memory lane to see if they are really meant to be together.
