You meant it as a joke to your friend but up close he was really frickin cute. "No worries! I'm sure you'll think of something eventually. Not like I'm going anywhere." You mumbled that last part as you stare behind you to glance at your friend, whom seemed to be hiding and shipping the two of you. "That simply won't do. Here follow me." He grabbed you by the arm to pull you to some place unknown.

An act of thievery goes awry and ascends to an night of turmoil. Disappearances of young girls have been incessant and disregarded by the authorities, and a young girl fights to elude a grim demise. A second-person short fiction about contention, morality, and an orphan's endeavor to survive.

"John Kilburne" is out of retirement as an elite agent after taking on one case as favour, but one leads to another and another. He now finds himself embroiled in the quest to answer one simple question: why did magic enter the world after humanity was nearly wiped out about a century ago? His missions take him across the world to battle monsters and locate artefacts.
