Lifelongfriend Stories

This short story was inspired by a dream and is about the young adopted protégé of a famous actress of Hollywood's golden age. It is in two parts, her letter for publication to Hedda Hopper, the famous gossip columnist, and her private thoughts. Note: The photo is of Grauman's Egyptian Theatre interior in 1922, Hollywood.

"Only in youth do we express our truest selves. Only in youth do we pretend for the sake of our imagination, and not for the hope of becoming who we pretend we are. Only in youth do we know no differences among others. Only in youth are we bold enough to dream and hopeful enough to grow up to achieve those dreams. Only in youth are we not too frightened to admit the feelings we harbor toward those we care for. It's because of this that I'm beginning to think that the best version of myself existed only in my youth."
