The Inherited Darkness is an epic generational tale that follows a community's journey from trauma to hope, as ordinary people unite to face an ancient evil and build a global movement rooted in protection, connection, and love.
Set in Iloilo City, Philippines, the story begins with Maya Santos returning to her hometown to confront the darkness that haunted her childhood-an evil force tied to a local curse that had harmed children for generations. With the help of her husband David, childhood friend Lila, and others including Carla (the daughter of the curse's vessel), they face down the darkness and trap it, but not before learning that both darkness and light can be inherited.
Rather than stopping there, they found the Light Bearers-an organization dedicated to protecting children, healing communities, and ensuring no one ever faces darkness alone. What starts as a small local group grows into a national movement, then expands globally, adapting to different cultures and technologies while staying true to its core principles: that love is stronger than fear, community is stronger than isolation, and light grows brighter when shared.
Spanning over a century, the narrative follows multiple generations of characters-from the founders who planted the first garden of white flowers to their descendants who carry the light to every corner of the world, even into space. Each generation faces new challenges-from local exploitation to global crises, from physical danger to digital threats-but they all draw strength from the legacy passed down to them.
Central symbols weave through the story: seven white flowers that grow in every climate, a constellation of seven stars known as the Guardian Girls, and a silver locket that passes from generation to generation, carrying memories and hope. The story ultimately shows that while darkness may be inherited, light is too-and when we choose to nurture and share it, it can shine forever.
