Kingdoms will rise and fall, I've come to take it all. History has always been written by the victors. With more blood on his hands and bodies than he can keep track of, Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus, known more commonly as Octavian, has just ordered Caesarion killed. After the Battle of Alexandria and the supposed suicide of his rival and brother-in-law Marcus Antonius, Octavian is not that surprised to find Queen Cleopatra deceased from poison. What he didn't expect, however, was the Egyptians bowing to him in respect. With Cleopatra and her son Caesarion dead, Octavian is the only contender left for the Egyptian throne. Having rescued Marcus Antonius from the brink of death, the thirty-three year old usurper faces his weakened rival a changed man. The name Augustus would never be given as a title to Octavian, nor would it be murmured by the Roman Senate. The Egyptians call him Kaisaros and treat him like a God-King. With the Egyptian fleet and army at his back, Octavian builds his kingdom as the first Roman Pharaoh. He plays the part, replacing his toga for animal prints, trading away his laurel wreath for jewelry and kohl. Then he is gifted three strange eggs that feel warm to him, but no one else. Once he gets the eggs to hatch, history will paint him as a more renowned figure than Alexander the Great.

History always painted Gaius Octavius and Marcus Antonius as bitter enemies who soon went their separate ways. Well, this is somewhat different. Bitterly jealous at Octavius getting all of Caesar's money and adoption, Antonius withholds all of the money out of spite. Only nineteen-years-old, Gaius Octavius has to confront the man who used to be Caesar's friend and best general in battle. What starts out as anger turns into something sweeter. Antonius has always been described by other people as good looking, a possible descendant of Hercules. Octavius never believed this at first, until he meets the older man face-to-face. Annoyed at his conflicting feelings for Antonius, Octavius marches off back to Apollonia, not realizing the older man is trailing behind.

After the chaos of Julius Caesar's assassination and with Rome in disarray, people are desperate to restore order. In this alternate reality where marriage is encouraged to form alliances, no matter the couple's gender, both Octavian and Antony's families push for them to get married and put their rivalry aside. Both men begrudgingly agree, despite the fact that Octavian is nineteen and Antony is forty. Both of them struggle to relate in married life, but with enemies around every corner, they soon learn they need one another to hunt Caesar's killers down. This will mainly be written in Octavian's point of view, but will sometimes switch to Antony's.
