SECRETSPAM2010
Four Oaks was always too small for their big dreams, but it was exactly the right size for their friendship.
Since the first day of kindergarten, Madeline "Madi" Sinclair and Noah Bridges were an inseparable pair. Whether they were playing catch in the street between their houses or navigating the social hurdles of high school, they were a team. But when graduation arrived, their paths split by over a thousand miles: Madi headed to Texas A&M to pursue animal science and elite softball, while Noah stayed in North Carolina to play center field for UNCW.
Madi kept her promise. She called, she texted, and she shared every win and loss from the Texas dirt. But slowly, the boy across the street faded into a ghost. Noah's replies turned into one-word answers, then silence, until the person who knew Madi best became a stranger she used to love.
Three years later, Madi is back in Four Oaks for the summer.
She's different now-stronger, more focused, and determined to spend her break preparing for her senior season. But Noah is back, too, and the boy who stopped calling has grown into a man who can't seem to stop looking at her. As Madi faces her parents, Sarah and David Sinclair, and reconnects with Noah's family, she realizes that while the silence hurt, the truth behind why Noah disappeared might hurt even more.
In the heat of a North Carolina summer, Madi and Noah must decide if some bridges are meant to stay broken, or if the girl from Texas A&M and the center fielder from UNCW can find their way back to the starting line.
