He respected Luffy to an extent, so much that he doesn't show it only when he needs to feels a sense of securing his captain's pride, to show the world that his captain is much more than his life will ever will be. But he feels heavy, and wrong...he feels as if whatever he is doing right now is going against his captain's orders, something illegal for his crew...a similar feeling that drags him back to his wed.
