Kyra Bloodstone lives in a world where reading books is forbidden. Too many secrets could be unleashed, and the rulers' perfect balance would be undone. Being a descendant of the kingdom's founder, Kyra must be betrothed by the age of seventeen, and at her new living quarters, she finds a whole room of books. She reads them, and learns shocking truths. Unfortunately, she lets it slip that she'd been reading, and is sentenced to death.
