Nyleah doesn't chase. Never has, never will. If she wants you, you'll know. If she doesn't, you won't even exist to her. Simple. She moves quiet, but everything about her loud. her presence, her stare, the way people straighten up when she walks in.
Amara though? Whole different story.
Amara doesn't follow rules, doesn't care about no reputation, and definitely not checking for Nyleah. She has her own name, her own vibe, and she's not the type to let nobody feel like they're above her. Especially not some girl who thinks she runs everything.
So when they meet in the club, it's instant friction.
Not the cute kind either. It's side-eyes, slick comments, standing a little too close like they're daring each other to do something. Both of them used to be the one in control, and neither one backing down.
Everybody else can feel it too. That tension? Yeah... but it's not normal.
Because under all that attitude, it's something else building.
And Nyleah hates that she's even noticing it.
Because she doesn't chase.
But Amara might be the first person making her forget how that even works. They're above her. Especially not some girl who thinks she runs everything.
