After years of being Natsume's guardian, now Natsume is gone and Madara is, once again, left alone. He should feel grateful, yet why does it always feel as though something was amiss? And on the eve of a once-in-a-hundred-year festival, Hinoe and the middle-class youkai come to invite him.

A woman from Takashi's past comes and demands him to live with her , Takashi declines saying he wants to live with the Fujiwaras , she gets angry and she almost kills him , thankfully there was a certain detective in town , will he be able to solve the mystery , and will he also solve the Natsume Takashi mystery ?

Natsume disappears for two years without a trace after saying he was going to go on his own little adventure through the mountains. Nobody thought of it as no one wanted to freak out the Fujiwara's. Except Nyanko sensei knew something was wrong as he could not even see or sense Natsume as he would fly around the mountains often. Worried Taki, Tanuma, and Nyanko sensei goes and finds the lost boy.

Ginko, a traveling Mushishi, ends up angering a Mushi he never should have touched. He is transported into a realm where Mushi do not exist, instead Yokai replace them. Natsume, on his way to solve peril after peril these Yokai cause, is struck and given a rough meeting to the Mushishi. Together, they solve the reason as to why the Mushishi is here, and exchange their new ages of humanity; All while figuring out a way to get the Mushishi back home.
