The explanation for this is straightforward. A bad TOEFL study guide will push you to practise word-for-word translation. This strategy necessitates examining each English word in specifically a sentence. Then you try to figure out what each word in the phrase means. It's an inefficient strategy because it consumes a lot of your time. This can have an impact on your performance on a timed examination like the TOEFL.
