18 year old Darwin McVeay lives all by herself in a swamp lost in some anonymous southern small town, a place where people are unfriendly and the air smells like warmth and eggs. One summer evening, she notices something odd: a long, dark figure that quickly disappears trough the mossy trees. It could be anything. There are stray dogs in the woods, a man and his truck, children's bedtime scary stories. And there's Darwin's troubled past, something that's buried deep down in her soul and which remains unsolved. For the longest time, Darwin thought she was alone. She's not so sure anymore.
