John Kennedy is a young budding doctor whom is excited with the growth of psychology during the 1800's in Europe. He is committed to helping his patients, but his own head, dark past, and current controversies and scandals  in the hospital seem to be getting in the way. The facility is riddled with problems and now a murder has taken place. Johns mind is becoming fragmented and is increasingly breaking under pressure as he hopes to solve the murder, works to keep the institution from shutting down, as well as completing and publication his work.
