Ariel and Mitch have a 'skinny love'. Meaning they love each other; although, they love each other for the wrong reason. They think they can just look past the fighting, and everything will be alright. Mitch says just cut the ropes, meaning let's just end this. But Ariel convinces him that they can make it work. They told their love what to do. They said that if they were patient, everything would go away and be okay. The only left to question is if it will be okay like they say.
