When you join the military, you sign over your life and your freewill. They can move you wherever they want, send you into combat to die, the possibilities are endless.
So although I may sounds brave and adventurous, I'm crumbling in the inside. It's not because of how many Innocent lives I'll be taking, the violence I'll be part of, or even the fear of my own life.
It's because of a man I left, even though two years ago I made a vow to stay by his side forever.
Because of a man I forgot to tell I joined the military before I met him.
Because of a man who begged me to stay.
Because of a man who felt he should be fighting for our country instead of me.
The terror in his eyes as I saw his figure slowly fade away, never left my mind. Yet despite his calls, and pleading tears, here I go marching with heavy boots, a loaded gun, amongst the other men and women who signed at a young age to fight for our country.
