Hogwarts students all go back to school for their eight year. People are gone forever, never coming back, and the school has been repaired, as best it can be. Harry comes back distant and loathing -as expected considering the circumstances- not knowing what to do, where to go or what purpose he serves now that Voldemort is dead. Wondering though the halls like a ghost, lost and traumatised, not even sure if he wants to keep going. After all, what purpose does he serve now? Voldemort is dead, Harry killed him, which is what his life has been leading up to since the day he earned his lightening scar, so what now? With Harry's mind getting foggier and foggier with guilt and grief, and with the added nightmares he gets every night that bring it all back, not knowing where he's going in life, it's hardly surprising Harry doesn't know whether or not he's even going to make it through the year at all. Draco comes back to school, on probation from the ministry, determined to make something of his life. With his knew found freedom, Draco becomes more determined than ever to lead the life he's always wanted, far away from the punishing judgement and strict way of life his father had made him live. He wants to set things straight, mend the broken ties he had left behind and prove his ability to think for himself, show how different a person he truly was to the one he had pretended to be for so long. But Draco is still broken inside from the years of cruel punishment and threats he endured daily, traumatised by the things he had witnessed and been forced to do. He barely eats, hardly ever sleeps, but isn't ready to give up on the life he's always wanted for himself and can now have. Hopefully. Will Harry be able to will himself to live through the year? Will Draco let the trauma of the past dictate his future? An unlikely friendship might just mean the difference between life and death, and maybe, just maybe, a little bit of love, too. - TRIGGERING & slow updates
