Eren is the soul in the stars. A god who protects the humans with the sky. He is shocked when he sees a completely pure soul that isn't a child roaming the earth. It burns into his eyes and he can't look anywhere else. So he leaves the sky and leaves the stars, manifesting himself into a human, and goes to see him against the wishes of his betrothed Mikasa.
