A Northern Warlord seeks the ultimate power - to rule over all of Halon. To achieve this he intends to sacrifice innocents to the magical creatures of Pharao'er, ancient dragons which, if legend has it right, will imbue the one who offers such a sacrifice with the power of the elements.
The southern armies are sent to defend the lower realms against the advancing Warlord and his clan, amongst them, novice warriors and spell-weavers, robbed of their training in the academy at Linn-a-Coerh, because of the pending war. These unfortunate youngsters must learn their craft on the battlefield and they will have to learn quickly.
When all seems lost, and countless more lives are forfeited, four novices decide there is only one way to stop the Warlord's oligarchy. They must find the elemental Dragons first and pray their legendary appetite is nothing more than a fable.
