The room fills with the faint scent of jasmine, the touch of warm skin, and the sound of a soothing lullaby. Then there's screaming voices, tear-stricken cheeks, and a still emptiness. Vess is dogged by distant memories of her mother, some of them leaving her with the warmth that comes with the innocence of childhood, while others leave her with the pain that comes with trauma, Vess decides to set out and find her mother so can put the pieces of her fragmented memories back together and bring justice to her six-year-old self. As she sets on this path of discovery, Vess soon learns that the answers she's looking for are not as simple as she thought. She fears for what the future reveals and worries if some things were better left unknown.
