Three years ago, Lysander succeeded in controlling Ash and Greninja's bond phenomenon, resulting in Team Flare seizing control of the Kalos Region. Nothing and nobody is allowed out or into the Kalos Region, cutting it off from the rest of the world. The other regions; Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova and Alola no longer have any contact with the Kalos Region.
