Irene was famous for her bravery and competency in work. Even if all of her actions could put her into a pit black hole which she could not get out easily from, she would do everything that is right according to her. She was thinking that everything was just easy. Not until she went through something that truly change her mindset about how easy it was. It is hard. Very hard to say about the true facts to the world. But still, she believes that word indeed would lead the world.
