The Red String of Fate is a well-known concept, the idea that a red string connects you to your soulmate. But what if instead of a string, it was a clock? What if you had a countdown to the exact moment that you would meet your soulmate? In the city of Valmont, everyone has a Counter, a countdown that can only be seen by you and your soulmate. They are not able to be changed or tampered with, a rule set when the Counters were first introduced.

Lily has always known this and has excepted it. She has waited 18 years and still has a long way to go before she can meet her match. But when Lily's Counter starts to do the impossible, she can't just sit and wait. She will do anything she can to figure out what is happening to her, or maybe something is happening to her soulmate?
