After the Yeladelian royal family is slaughtered in their sleep, the surviving Grand Duchess Manya Kovnokozi makes a harrowing escape into a neighbouring kingdom. She knows there's a traitor among her that desperately wants to end the great Kovnokozi line, so Manya knows her only chance of finding said traitor is to not be a Kovnokozi at all. Under an assumed identity, Manya's plans to reclaim the Frostborn Throne go awry when she's whisked away to a foreign court as the Lady Lilianna Griffith for the Season. Her disguise at foreign court falters when an ancient power within Manya begins to bubble to the surface, painting a new and more perilous target on her back.

Manya is stuck in a dizzying game of power, revenge, treachery, and a blossoming attraction to a crown prince that puts them both in more danger than they know. High Court has always been said to be a deadly affair, but this Season will prove just how deadly it can get. After all, revenge is a dish best served cold.
