When Makoto hears about the ball being held by the Togami's, it's a far off dream for any of him or his friends to ever be able to attend such a high society gathering. All the invitees are celebrities or business partners of the Corporation, so an utterly average person such as him would never have even the slimmest chance at attending, even if they are supposed to be really lucky.
