Today is Monday, were moving to California it's 13 hours away from were I live. I don't want to move I have to start all over to make new friends it might take me a year or something. "Honey, come on down we have to leave" my mom said. "I'm coming I just need a few minutes" I said. I got a phone call from my BFF, I heard her in tears I asked "why are you crying?" "I don't want you to move, I'll never get to see you" "I know but we can FaceTime or plan something, we'll keep in touch" "I got to go bye" "bye." I started to cry again. Hope finding Friends is easy? It's 4:00 PM we just got to California to out new house, it feels awkward I don't know why living in a new neighborhood, new school, new everything. Tomorrow I get to start school I'm scared I don't know what to do. I've been fixing everything for school tomorrow, I hope it goes good. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. "If we lived in the forest we wouldn't have gummy bears any more." I comment to lighten the mood. She doesn't find it funny. "I'm serious Remi! What if we did run away?" "Jen, we can't just run away. I know your parents are strict but I truly think they just want what's best for you." She says nothing. For a moment I fear she's mad at me but then she puts her head on my shoulder and I know we're okay.
