Purgatory's Gate

A mob informant in witness protection gets more than he bargained for in the sleepy town of Purgatory's Gate.

Ezio is living with a price on his head. After turning all his old contacts in to the FBI he knows he has few options when it comes Witness Protection. What he doesn't expect is to be relocated to the town of Purgatory's Gate, a dead end ski town on the edge of an active volcano. But he has little choice but to try to fit in and lay low. He finds a job at a poorly run ski resort, with an oddly hostile caretaker and a team of fairly welcoming employees. Something sinister is afoot in a town where everyone has a secret, and Ezio is starting to guess his secret isn't the darkest.

To be clear this would be a horror novel if the protagonist were more observant and self-preserving. As he is not it's a romance.
