A deaf woman named Bessie had a cochlear implant and was good at speaking but hadn't used sign language in a long while.
She attended university to follow her dreams and escape her high-achieving family, especially her successful sis Diana.
But get this; she didn't know there was a huge deaf community at the university. Even though she didn't have much experience with deaf culture growing up, Bessie met many deaf people. And then there was this dude named Harrison, aka "Hatter," who totally rocked her world and made her rethink what she knew about being deaf.
