After half a year since their time in Unova, Zeno and Alex find themselves drifting towards Alex's home region; Hoenn. Desiring only to enjoy the tropical region with her boyfriend, Alex tries to keep her past as far away as she possibly can. But when her brother steps back into her life, things become complicated.

Still recovering from the massive weather disaster a few years back, Hoenn is once again reinitiating its Pokémon League. And when a sickly childhood friend sets his sights on winning, Alex agrees to help in any way she can. Yet she can't help but worry that he may not have what it takes.
