As a 19 year old boy, he couldn't do much with an emotionally unavailable mother at home and his own mental struggles, he couldnt get a job. Until he's presented to Sam.

Sam Accardi, a 27 year old man who acts as headmaster of Littles Obedience Academy (LOA), has had a rather lonely life himself after never finding a little. He created said academy to pick troubled teens off the streets. As a calm but rather intimidating man, he operates the school in a controlled manner until a troubled boy comes in and breaks his streak.
