Five mass extinction events have been identified throughout the history of the planet. The first took with it nearly all aquatic life. The second killed those on land too. The third killed so many, it was awarded the title 'The Great Dying'. The fourth was cruel and dragged out ever so slowly over millions of years. The fifth was the doom of the dinosaurs. None had ever encountered human beings in their path. But then there was a sixth. On the 12th of June 2026, billions would witness with their own eyes what would go on to be described as 'The Downpour of Flames' and would mark the start of the first apocalypse in human history. On that random, 'uneventful' day an unexplainable calamity struck. Balls of flames rained down hitting every corner of the Earth, showering everything living with an azure inextinguishable fire. For 40 days and 40 nights the sky remained unmerciful to humans' pleas, pelting down fire every second without missing a beat. The whole world was set ablaze and with that so was 70% of all terrestrial life. But then it stopped. Some believed it to have been a punishment for human sins and their avarice. They believed that heavenly flames had wiped clean wretched hearts and rebirthed civilisation into purity. But it was supposition, The truth -no one actually knew the cause for such devastation and destruction. Everything changed, the fire had burnt through almost everything including crops and livestock. And although many enjoyed and frequently used technology they had little to no idea on how to build them from scratch. In the course of 40 days, humanity's greatest achievement had been rendered to nothing. Still the indomitable human spirit persevered and within the next four centuries humanity had ticked off a million milestones that had never been seen before. How? Those who survived, 'the unburnt' saw that their offspring's were different to them. They were stronger, faster and had supernatural powers.
