Luke Hemmings. He's the epitome of a perfect student. He's the epitome of a perfect son. He's the only child of the family and so he has the pressure of living up to the high standards his mother has for him. The last thing he wants to be is the epitome of perfection, but the proud look in his mother's eye when she tells everyone how he's going to be the best lawyer or doctor or mathematician of his age makes him hesitant to waver from his stick straight path to a future he doesn't desire. But the path is only a few centimeters wide and he's unbalanced as he walks over the huge, bottomless pit that is his dreams and aspirations. The slightest of nudges could make him tip over the edge but there's no one in sight to help him fall until she comes along and shoves him head first into the future that he had never imagined would come true.
