The ballroom was a scene from a fairytale. Glittering chandeliers hung from the high ceiling, casting a warm, golden glow over the elegantly dressed guests. The room was alive with the soft murmur of conversation, the clinking of glasses, and the gentle strains of a waltz played by a live orchestra.
Ayser led Kyra to the dance floor, his hand firm yet gentle on the small of her back. As they stepped into the swirling mass of couples, Kyra felt her heart pound in her chest. The moment felt surreal, like a dream she knew she shouldn't be having. The polished marble floor gleamed beneath their feet, and the scent of fresh flowers from the elaborate centerpieces filled the air.
As the music enveloped them, Ayser pulled her closer, his movements graceful and assured. Kyra tried to focus on the steps, on matching his rhythm, but it was impossible to ignore the electric current that seemed to pass between them. Every touch, every brush of his hand against hers, sent shivers down her spine.
The dance was torturous for Kyra. Each spin and dip brought them closer, his presence overwhelming her senses. She could hear his heartbeat, strong and steady, as if it were her own. She tried to push her feelings away, to bury them deep inside where they wouldn't betray her, but it was like trying to hold back the tide.
Her mind was a whirlwind of emotions. She knew it was wrong to feel this way, wrong to yearn for him when he belonged to someone else.
