A soldier believed killed in action, Sgt. Jackson Wheel exists as a vampire now, drinking blood and operating as a low-level enforcer for more powerful Nightfallen. But unlike the other undead with whom he keeps company, there's something different about Jackson: he's not really a vampire. Though the general public doesn't believe that vampires exist outside of horror movies, a handful of Pentagon officials know the truth. An experimental Defense Department program changed Jackson so that his body can mimic undead physiology. Now Jackson is behind enemy lines, charged with finding out everything he can about this growing supernatural threat. But while his body can imitate vampirism, to maintain his cover it's up to Jackson alone to match their depravity. How long can a good soldier remain a good man when his orders are to act evil?
