"I'm never growing up," she swore, and even crossed her heart. 
"Me niether," he nodded quickly in the way only little children do. 
"Pinky swear?" she ask innocently.  
"Pinky swear." he confirmed smiling. Then she bent over and kissed his cheek. 
"See you tomorrow!" she called over her shoulder as she let herself out of the gate in his backyard. But he didn't see her the next day. That night she became an orphan when her parents died in a car accident. And she moved away to live with her uncle in New York.
