You're diagnosed with a chronic illness. You tell your friends, and they do one of three things. Some of them forget after a little while; they don't ask about doctor's visits or medications. Some of them complain--when you're too tired to go out, they complain that you're lazy or depressed or wallowing in self-pity. They get frustrated with your pain. The worst of the bunch just leave. They don't even try to understand. This was my story until I decided that they needed to understand me and my pain. This is how I avenged myself against the Forgetters, Leavers, and Complainers.
