When twenty-three year old Gemma Perry receives a wedding invitation in the mail of her New York apartment, she thinks nothing of it. Though when she looks closer, realizing that the wedding invitation is from her old best friend, Avery Nelson, Gemma is confused. Her friendship with Avery left on terrible terms, and they have not spoken in years. Gemma does not understand why she has been invited to the wedding but also -- why is only Avery's name on the invite? The grooms name is nowhere to be found. Gemma decides she is not going to attend, because why unpack an old friendship that did not need to be brought back to life? Though when her best friend Marcie convinces her to reconsider going back to her home state of Michigan, because this would be the last summer the two post-grads would have before they started their careers in the Fall, Gemma hesitantly agrees. Though as soon as she steps foot back in Michigan, Gemma instantly wishes that she could turn around and go straight back to New York. In her first week alone, Gemma finds out who the groom is, which sends her to a walk down memory lane she never saw coming. Though she wants desperately to go home, Gemma's sister somehow convinces her to stay for the summer. Through unexpected wedding planning, and family drama hiding in the corner, this definitely is one summer that Gemma will never forget.
