Being a mailman is hard. Being a mailman in a zombie apocalypse is harder -- moreso due to the lack of maps and established trails than the zombies, though they are rather irritating. The fatal complication: Anders wasn't aware of other settlements to begin with -- as far as he knew, the only thing outside the fence around his town was certain death. As it turns out, though, humans are pretty hard to kill off. Maybe Aunt Mirina should have mentioned this at some point.
