The Far Eastern empire of Liuxian is flourishing, and the millennia-old tradition of porcelain dolls helps keep its subjects within a religious regime. One of the princes, chosen as a child, as part of custom to incarnate the god of porcelain, is sent to the coastal kingdom of Espar to marry the local heir to the throne as part of an alliance. Unfortunately, during the journey, all in the retinue fall victim to an Esparian band of villains, but the prince's body remains undiscovered.
Five years later, another young prince from the country of Koder sets out on an expedition to circumnavigate the entire continent of Euloris. During the voyage, he is caught in a shipwreck but manages to survive along with part of the ship's crew thanks to the Esparians' help. Little does he know that this will land him in the middle of the mystery surrounding the disappearance of the Liuxian prince and give him the opportunity to uncover the truth, the whole truth.
