« I know a rough patch when I see one... and last month has been nothing but that. You sure the payoff still outweighs the risks? »

Amira clenched her jaw slightly she rarely ever admitted to letting anything but her mind guide her decisions but the recent failures and deaths of her soldiers had indeed clouded her judgment. She had seen the monsters as an enemy with better intelligence than they actually had. With a heavy sigh she spoke into her comm link. "All soldiers stand down, we'll retake the facility another day." She said before turning to Skye "thank you you are a truly dedicated soldier." She says giving a salute.

« Have you ever heard of the sunk cost fallacy, General? » Skye leaned back, not breaking eye contact for even a moment. « I get that you've already spent a good amount of resources for this operation, but for what it's worth, these people are better suited elsewhere. You're sending them to guard what is essentially a crater. » The Fixer leaned in.

« Look, I'm not saying to give up on the damn place, but recent activity indicates it's become a hot spot for those creatures to hunt. If you want to salvage the mining complex, wait for them to divert their attention somewhere else, and send a team with a small footprint to recover what is essential. »

« You're fighting wildlife, not an enemy force. They aren't smart enough to use whatever tech and crystals is still there, so they're not going anywhere. »

"I have no choice, our biggest mining area was destroyed yesterday if I do not send in this expedition everything we have fought for will be for nothing." Amira replied with a heavy sigh. The usually calm and composed general showed some worry on her face.
