alex has been briefed prior to the mission that a close air support element would be assisting him as an auxiliary for the eagle fighter, allowing the seaf to concentrate more on dropping ordnance for the helldivers while this mercenary maintains air supremacy. this meant denial of potential enemy reinforcements by air, as well as other aircraft that may stand in the way.
for the first part of the mission, the pilot was nowhere to be seen, but as the situation grew dire, and automaton forces converged on the allied position, several gunships flew in to maintain the pressure on the team. but as more reinforcements were dropping in, a distant engine shriek was heard. first as a low howl, but with each second, it was clear that whatever made that noise was getting closer to the position. from the hazy sky, a silhouette of an aircraft appeared. however, no strikes have been called, so it couldn't be an eagle fighter. the next thing the team saw, was a bright red laser beam that made impact with the ground, before the jet began to change its trajectory from a dive-bombing position to a straight one. the laser coming from the aircraft matched its movements, swiftly passing through the line of automaton aircraft before it was shut off. now, the mysterious savior was passing by the area of operations, ready to make another run. despite the hazy sky, the ground team could notice its distinctive colors, a stark white body with its right wing colored scarlet red.
after the pass, the gunships and dropship were each split into two where the laser passed and plummeted into the ground with loud explosions from the crashing. another voice came up on the radio, for the first time in the mission. it wasn't the eagle fighter. it was the CAS pilot himself.
<< that should give you guys enough time to get the hell out of there. don't everyone cheer at once. >> the pilot prompted. he knew he was a little late to the action as he tried to ensure the aerial superiority of the AO.
