⎯⎯ T0PiC ; mafia in the morning
mafia in the morning by itzy was a very interesting comeback. i’ve seen many fans either loving the song or disliking the song so much. well, i can’t say that i liked it that much either. here’s my opinion about it:
song ; 4 / 10
⎯⎯ the song had some very interesting lyrics... maybe itzy is not my type, but the chorus and verses of the song were just not it. i, for one, hated the chorus, especially the ❝ring-ding-ding-ding❞. the lyrics felt like it was too much, but the beat sounded empty.
⎯⎯ the song had some cringe lyrics though. i feel like the company is trying to push itzy into the western world with the english lyrics since twice is more focused on korea.
⎯⎯ this comeback reminded me of nct127’s ❝gimme gimme❞ and stray kids’ ❝god’s menu❞, which i don’t like that much so i guess that’s something. continuing on.
mv ; 7 / 10
⎯⎯ the mv was very great, and i loves the transitions. they were very smooth and i loved the concept. though, i didn’t think it was itzy’s concept, if you know what i mean. maybe the song and mv would’ve fit another group better. itzy’s more teen-crush than girl-crush. maybe that’s just me, but i feel like it didn’t fit them, especially with the sudden change.
dance ; 6 / 10
⎯⎯ this comeback was not focused on the choreography that much, especially since it didn’t have a breakdance like they usually have. i liked it a few movements of the choreo, except the finger-guns in the post-chorus. i just— no. i liked their final chorus, with the hip movements at the end! that was my favorite part.
era ; chaeryeong
⎯⎯ i can’t deny this was my least favorite era, but chae really caught my eyes. i focused on her the most in the mv and stages. she owned this.
overall ; 5.5 / 10
⎯⎯ this ends my little rant about itzy’s new comeback ❝mafia in the morning❞. i’m gonna guess that this year, me and kpop will not get along that much hehe.
